MENTAL ILL-HEALTH IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE FOR EMPLOYERS IN THE UK AFFECTING SO MANY LIVES. EVERY YEAR ONE IN FOUR PEOPLE WILL EXPERIENCE A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE AND PRE-PANDEMIC, THE ANNUAL COST TO EMPLOYERS WAS CALCULATED TO BE £45 BILLION DUE TO PRESENTEEISM, SICKNESS, AND TURNOVER OF STAFF.

In response to COVID-19, we are now able to deliver all mental health training ONLINE.

We deliver multiple offerings for mental health training, including Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Mental Health Awareness, MHFA Health Champion, Line Manager, Suicide First Aid, Suicide First Aid Lite and Beingworks bespoke courses.

Every year one in four people will experience a mental health issue, and annual cost to employers is calculated to be £56 billion due to presenteeism, sickness, and turnover of staff.

Our mental health training can be delivered ONLINE and FACE to FACE.

We deliver multiple offerings for mental health training, including:-

Accredited by MHFA England and qualifies delegates as Mental Health First AIDERS (MHFAider®)


Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognised training course that teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill-health and provides support on a first aid basis. It forms a core part of Beingworks’ corporate wellbeing and mental health training model. The courses are delivered by instructors who have attended MHFA England’s Instructor Training Programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAider®) have:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing.
- Practical skills to spot triggers and signs of mental health issues.
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress.
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening.
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix.

Train as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®) and receive three years of certification, plus access to ongoing benefits.

This course is ideal for individuals who would like to become an MHFAider® to gain the knowledge and skills to spot signs of people experiencing poor mental health, be confident to start a conversation and signpost a person to appropriate support.​

In addition to the course, you will become part of the largest MHFAider® community in England, gaining access to resources, ongoing learning and 24/7 digital support through our MHFAider Support App®, to give you the tools and knowledge you need to carry out the role effectively and confidently, whether that be in your workplace, a volunteer role, or in the community.

Online or face-to-face course structured across four flexible sessions. Each session is a maximum of 3hrs 45mins and sessions can be delivered within a two week period.

Learners will be trained over four live sessions with an MHFA England Instructor Member, covering 14 hours of content in total.​

Learning takes place through a mix of instructor led training, group discussions, individual and group activities.

Each session builds on the previous, enabling the learner to gain confidence in supporting others with a Mental Health First Aid action plan.

We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that instructors can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

On completion of the online and face to face courses, each attendee will get :-

A hard copy workbook to support their learning throughout the course 

A digital manual to refer to whenever they need it​ after completing the course 

A wallet-sized reference card with the Mental Health First Aid action plan​ 

A digital MHFAider® certificate  

Access to the MHFAider Support App® for three years 

Access to ongoing learning opportunities, resources and exclusive events ​

This 4-hour course raises awareness of mental health.

It covers:
- What mental health is and how to challenge stigma
- Basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
- An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
- Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue

This one day course qualifies you as an MHFA Champion, giving you:

- An understanding of common mental health issues
- Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
- Ability to spot signs of mental ill-health
- Skills to support positive wellbeing

training TO helP build confidence and mental health literacy for Line Managers so they can effectively manage their TEAMS.

This training is designed to support managers to lead with wellbeing at the heart of their team culture. As well as building awareness of what exactly mental health & wellbeing is, this training helps managers to understand the factors that influence mental health and wellbeing so that they can effectively support their team members.

Managers will leave this training equipped and empowered to role model best practice, confidently lead conversations about mental health and achieve psychological safety within their teams.

The training will cover :-
- An understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
- Better recognition and understanding of stress and our responses to it.
- Impact on behaviour, thoughts, and feelings.
- Understanding of common mental health conditions.
- How to spot signs and symptoms of declining mental health.
- Insight into self-care and management of own wellbeing as a Leader.
- Facilitation of productive and effective conversations around mental health strategies, engagement, and support.
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening.
- Tangible tools, resources, and recommendations.

The course is a four-hour refresher session for those who have completed the MHFA two or one-day course

Just like physical first aid, we recommend you refresh your skills yearly.

MHFA England's Two Day and One Day courses are valid for three years. If it's more than three years since you completed your initial course, it's time to redo your training.

The session is delivered through a mix of group activities, presentations, and discussions.

Teaching the theory and practice of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting, captured in a one-day event accredited by City and Guilds of London.

The Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Intervention (SFAUSI) course gives learners the knowledge and tools to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths.

The programme teaches and practices the skills and knowledge needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and competently intervene to help create suicide-safety as a first aid approach.

Taught over 6 hours using tutor facilitated Socratic learning, tutor-led role-play, mini lectures, group work and audio-visual presentations.

This is a highly interactive and emotionally engaging learning experience. The course has been accredited by City & Guilds of London.

Upon satisfactory completion participants attain 6 NQF credits at level 4.

Teaching the theory and practice of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting, this programme is delivered over 3 hours as a suicide prevention awareness session.

The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and to pass the person onto a suicide first aider.

Taught using tutor facilitated Socratic learning, tutor-led role-play, mini lectures, group work and audio-visual presentations.

This has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience.
